The Day the World Came to Town
9/11 In Gander, Newfoundland
by
Jim DeFede

Did you ever wonder what happened to all the airplanes in the sky headed for airports in the United States on 9/11 when the airspace was closed?  Many were diverted to a small town in Canada.  The whole town came together to provide places for the people to stay.  Schools, and churches opened their doors, people donated food, towels and other basic supplies.  Many people made new and lasting friendships and found comfort during this terrible time.
