Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline
Vivian Daly is a 91 year old wealthy widow that has an unbelievable past. Molly Ayer is a 17 year old foster child that has been bounced around in the system for years. When Molly gets into a little bit of trouble, she is required to to do some community service and through her boyfriends mother, ends up helping the widow Daly clean out her attic. As they begin the journey of going through the boxes, they find out they have more in common than either one of them could have imagined.
Orphan trains are a fascinating part of America's history that is not well known and yet, changed the lives of so many orphans during the early years of our country. This story sheds light on the history of these trains and tells a story that is tragic and yet common.
